it's a big can o worms and you just took off the lid

remember when it wasn't all like that

why does everybody hate to be a kid? wasn't the best, but no less, at least you were excited
the only big d you got now is depression, its a hormone soup, and you wallow in obsession
with an ideal that isn't really all that great, when you get older, you think you will escape
but the societal ladder is always one step ahead of me
these people act like turning 21 means anything

remember when it wasn't all like this

was all you ever wanted
there's more to life i promise
take the best of both worlds
and blend them in the cosmic
let the blanket uncurl
and wrap yourself in it's warm embrace, your going to a different place

and the chemicals may help, but it was the there the whole time
all you really need to do is let the id unwind
sit down, close two and open your third eye, everybody has one,
now you're gonna see why
all the rules you've made, are a great big lie
they don't need to be there, and you don't need to cry
when you step outside, all these arbitrary lines
white as chalk in the pavement let this caged bird die

and arise, from ashes comes a brand new soul
whose got what it takes, is both brave and bold
and can make it for themselves in land thats free

cuz we've only ever really had one real desire
